You're very welcome at the Cottle Church. Built nearly 200 years ago, it has weathered hurricanes and earthquakes, yet it still stands.
The Cottle Church was built by Thomas Cottle (1761-1828) owner of the Round Hill estate, Nevis.
Construction began in 1822 and the roof was completed after the sugar crop of 1824.
After many decades of neglect and damage from earthquakes and hurricanes the church became a ruin and its walls and gables in danger of collapsing.
In the 1990s a UK Trust was formed to raise funds to conserve and stabilize the ruin. Funds were raised from individual and corporate donations. Since 2019 the church and its grounds have been cared for by the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society.
Visitors are welcome and events facilities are available.
